A whole household, from the survey through to the last wardrobe rebuilt in the right bedroom. What separates this from a standard house move is that the handling is decided piece by piece rather than room by room.
Almost every household contains three categories of thing: items that need a blanket, items that need a carton, and a small number of items that need considerably more than either. Most quotes only recognise the first two. Ours separates the third out at survey, because that is where the damage happens.

- Floor runners and door-frame protection at both ends
- Dismantling and rebuilding of beds, wardrobes and tables

Packing, at the depth you want it
A full pack means crews arrive and everything is boxed. A part pack means you take the straightforward rooms and hand us the ones that worry you — usually the kitchen, the display cabinet and anything framed. Both are fine. What matters is that the quote names which is which, so nobody arrives expecting the other.
Where materials matter, they are chosen per item: cell partitions for glass, purpose-made cases for framed work, acid-free tissue against polished and gilt surfaces. More on that on packing and storage.
The pieces that need more
In most family homes there are between three and a dozen items that should not travel under a blanket: a veneered chest, a marble or glass top, a large mirror, a long-case clock, framed work of real value. Those get identified at survey, given a handling class, and crated or cased where the survey says so.

Access — the other half of the job
The recurring problems are always the same. A staircase that turns twice before the first landing. A lift whose door is narrower than its car. A communal entrance that will not pass a three-seat sofa. A conservation street where the vehicle cannot stand within fifty metres of the door.
None of those are unsolvable. All of them change the crew size or the running order, and all of them are cheaper to establish beforehand than to discover on the morning. Where the vehicle genuinely cannot reach, the answer is a shuttle with a smaller van — costed in the quote, not produced as a surprise.
Long moves
Full-length runs across the country are planned with a realistic first leg rather than treated as a local job with a drive on the end. That affects crewing and whether it is honestly a one-day move. See coverage for how distance is priced, and European removals if the destination is abroad.

What is in a house removal quote?
The vehicle and crew, protection for furniture, floors and door frames, and dismantling and rebuilding what will not pass a door in one piece. Packing depth is priced separately because households want very different amounts of it.
What does the survey actually look at?
Volume, yes — but also the staircase turn, the lift door opening, where a vehicle can legally stand, whether the loft is boarded, and which pieces need more than blankets. That last one is what most quotes miss.
Can I pack some of it myself?
Yes, and plenty of people do. The usual split is that you take the books, the wardrobes of clothes and the garage, and we take the kitchen, the glass and anything framed. The quote names the rooms we are packing so there is no ambiguity.
Do you work weekends?
Yes, and they go first. Fine-furniture work in particular needs materials made up in advance, so those jobs benefit from more notice than a straightforward move does.
What if the completion slips?
The load stays on the vehicle or goes into store overnight rather than onto a pavement. We tell you at the time what that means for the booking rather than sending a surprise invoice.
